Wow! I couldn’t believe how popular Spider-Man costumes were at Hallowe’en last year, and by the looks of it they’re going to be just as huge again this year. Check this out:

That’s the new Spider-Man Homecoming costume by Rubie’s, and ─ no exaggeration ─ it could be the most realistic-looking Spider-Man costume ever made. If I were a kid, I would sell every other costume in my collection to own this one.

It’s no secret I’m a big fan of the Spider-Man Homecoming style ─ I can’t get enough of Spidey’s new webbed spandex and how it really makes him pop off the screen ─ so seeing it brought to life in this excellent new Spider-Man costume from Rubie’s makes me very excited.

What’s great about this costume is that it demonstrates just how big the new Spider-Man look is becoming with fans. Yes, the fact Spider-Man Homecoming is one of the best Spider-Man films of all time has a part ─ but I think it’s more to do with the fact Spider-Man fans are just excited to see a real, authentic, modern-looking Spider-Man at long last. And this costume really does the new Spider-Man style justice. It just feels modern. The dark shadows, the webbed patterns and the new Spider-Man crest all help this to feel like an actual superhero costume, rather than a gimmicky dress-up playsuit, and that’s why I know it’s going to be a huge hit this year. Check out the boots too. Rubber soles! No more having to put your trainers on over the top! It’s an absolute winner all-round.

As I can imagine it being snapped up by lots of parents at Hallowe’en and Christmas, don’t expect that price tag to hang around too long. Last year, Spider-Man costumes like this one shot up in price around the holidays ─ shortly before selling out altogether ─ so make sure to bag yours now!

Deluxe Ultimate Spider-Man Costume for Kids

This is the official Deluxe Ultimate Spider-Man costume, again by Rubie’s, and it’s got to be a contender for one of the coolest Spider-Man costumes ever made. It’s a true homage to the Spider-Man comic book style and ─ speaking as a massive Spider-Man comic book nerd ─ I’ve gotta say it’s a personal favourite. Those dark black lines (which you may know is called cel-shading) make this costume look totally dynamic and striking in photographs, meaning if you’re after something that’s going to look cool in your Hallowe’en or Christmas photos, the Rubie’s Ultimate Spider-Man costume has got to be your no.1 choice.

It’s easy to wear ─ it has a light, breathable snood and fastens at the back with velcro, so it’s easy to put on or off ─ and it has a structured top which gives it that cool, muscly look. No rubber soles, but that’s not a problem as the flares on the trousers mean as long as your kid has a pair of black shoes on, they’ll barely show under the trouser legs.

Prices for this Ultimate Spider-Man costume aren’t quite as low as it’s contender (above) but, as before, make sure to snap it up soon to beat the holiday price-hikes.

Don’t worry, you’re not seeing double.

The Spider-Man costume above is the Ultimate Spider-Man Deluxe edition, while this one is the Ultimate Spider-Man Classic costume. What’s the difference? Well, the truth is, not a lot! This classic model simply has a more retro colour scheme, with brighter blues and reds. This one will definitely be more popular with kids who have been fans of Spider-Man for a while and are more familiar with his brighter comic book-style Spidey suit, while the Deluxe Ultimate Spider-Man costume, with its new, darker-coloured suit will appeal more to newer Spider-Man fans.

But either of these are great purchases for kids who love Spider-Man and, if you or your child isn’t fussy when it comes to colour, this is the cheaper of the two. My top tip? If you think your child will want to wear their new Spider-Man costume all-year-round, the colour scheme for this classic edition will look way cooler in the summer.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Deluxe Costume

Did someone say ‘bulking season’? If you don’t have time to hit the creatine and egg whites before Hallowe’en, this is your next best option. I’m referring of course to those HUGE MUSCLES. The Amazing Spider-Man was definitely the bulkiest incarnation of Peter Parker, kinda like a professional wrestler or Dragon Ball Z character, and this costume is a pretty accurate reflection of that.

The muscles are made of polyester padding which, by a stroke of luck, makes this costume nice and warm, perfect for when the temperature drops on Hallowe’en night! No putting a coat over the top: instead, your child can let the ultra-cool details (like that webbed patterning, woven insignia and the textured mask) show through.

No gloves or boots, but that’s more than made up for by the fact this is the only Spider-Man costume that will make your child look the closest thing to the original Amazing Spider-Man. Great for fans of the series AND for boys who idolise Goku and Hulk Hogan!

 

Reversible Ultimate Spider-Man/Venom Costume

Finally! It’s been a long wait for a fully reversible, well-designed Spider-Man costume, but we have it at last.

Padded for dat muscle definition with stylish slim-fitting legs, not only does this look every part a realistic Amazing Spider-Man costume, it’s two for the price of one, as it unzips and folds inside-out to reveal Venom, with exactly the same impressive level of detail on both sides. If your kid is a little fussy and changes his mind a lot, then this is sure to keep them entertained for much longer. Get bored, turn costume around. It’s that simple!

Another excellent feature is the mask is detachable and reversible too. So even when your child wants to look awesome without getting all dressed up, they can take the mask (two masks, technically!) with them to school, the playground, or anywhere!

Great value for money. Great design. And truly the best reversible Spider-Man costume I’ve seen.

What to buy? It really does depend on how much money it’s worth to you! Is it a one-off Hallowe’en outfit, or do you want a decent Spider-Man costume to wear again-and-again?

If you’re looking for the latest style, the Homecoming costume is a fantastic choice, but if you can afford to spend the extra cash, the Reversible Spider-Man/Venom costume certainly gets our vote!
